At least the title is honest. The internet is flooded with this stuff. By now just about everyone has had their chance to voice their opinion(s) on the death of Michael Jackson. In more recent years he was a polarizing figure and now that has just increased by tenfold.
His death has clearly left a pretty powerful impact on a lot of people. People have actually killed themselves over his death which, by the way, is absolutely ridiculous. I think the only other person I can remember whose death had such a profound affect on people was Princess Di. She was awesome and some people still talked shit about her after she died, so I assumed it would be worse with MJ. Surely enough, it is. Probably a bit deservedly in this case, but still.
As fantastic as Michael Jackson was, it was pretty evident he didn't exactly have all his toys in the attic , so to speak (I don't think anyone actually uses that analogy). Neverland Ranch? Huh? Bubbles? Okay? Surgery? Come on dude.
I don't think I've ever seen anyone with such a distinctly different life between the first half and the second.
One minute you're in the Jackson 5, the next you're prepping your kids with bizarre face masks.
One minute you're rocking out with Eddie Van Halen to Beat It, the next you're...well...you're white now, strangely enough.
One minute you're in the best music video of all time (you know, the one with the zombies), and the next you're $400 million in debt? How does someone even do that?
If you saw the first half of his life, then were suddenly in a coma and woke up now, you'd be like "what the fuck?".
Even now, I'm like "what the fuck?"!
He ended up being one of the most bizarre superstars ever and it obviously proves a few things:
Apparently being the biggest child star ever and having a terribly opressive dad (thanks Joe!) REALLY REALLY messes with your head. His childhood had to have been absolutely ridiculous, I can't even begin to fathom the shit he had to go through. So that has to explain some of his crazy stuff I would assume.
He obviously did some incredibly creepy things that weren't as loveable as climbing trees with god damn Martin Bashir(click his name. That video is a 10 on the crazy scale). Whatever he did clearly wasn't cool, but I'll try not to remember him that way.
The first vinyl record I ever remember seeing was Thriller. Throughout my entire lifetime, Michael Jackson essentially has appeared as a constant. Like the sun coming up. Or Monday. I'm definitely looking forward to playing his music for my kids because I've got a feeling it'll still translate and they'll love it (who can't love "PYT"?). I'm praying to God that the Black Eyed Peas don't translate, but we'll deal with that when it comes.
I just remembered he married Lisa Marie Presley. What the fuck?

Point made. lol
Glad I found this weblog.
